GEN Ireland included in the Action Plan for Jobs
Gen Ireland is delighted to announce two of its initiatives as part of the recent launch of the Action Plan for Jobs.
On Monday 11th, Jan 2016, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton and Minister Damien English, Skills, Research and Innovation announced the Mid East Region – Action Plan for Jobs at Epicom buildings in Co.Meath.
As part of the strategy focusing on ‘Encouraging Entrepreneurship’, GEN Ireland is a key driver of,
‘ establishing a Foundation for Entrepreneurship’ and an ‘Innovation Summit,’ during Meath Enterprise Week, MEW2016 and Global Entrepreneurship Week in Ireland (GEW2016) in collaboration.
“I am excited about the potential of GEN Ireland and the real impact we can have on advancing Ireland’s entrepreneurship eco-system through key actions and initiatives that are important for Ireland and supporting nascent entrepreneurs. Being part of the Action Plan for Jobs and supported by Government, is a huge boost for GEN Ireland and timely as the announcement for the creation of a new Foundation for Entrepreneurship, happens ahead of our visit to Kansas and Kauffman Foundation, next week. We will spend time at Kauffman engaging in critical meetings and building relationships with Kauffman, where we learn best practices across research, education, policy, innovation and awareness, ” says Maree Helena, co-founder, GEN Ireland.
The Innovation Summit is further testament to the ongoing efforts of GEN Ireland to advance Ireland’s entrepreneurial culture through working in collaboration with regional and international partners. As part of the Startup Centenary Celebration, a yearlong celebration of entrepreneurship, Meath Enterprise will host a National Innovation Summit in Meath during MEW and GEW2016, Nov 14-20. In addition, the Kauffman supported initiative, Pipeline, host their first international Innovation module gathering in Ireland in September this year. The event brings together fast growth US entrepreneurs and advisors, mentors and experts within the Pipeline network for a week long gathering in Ireland focusing on innovation.
” The action to host an Innovation Summit, comes at a good time, ahead of our trip to Kansas next week, where I am delighted to be invited by Pipeline as a main Presentation judge along with TechCrunch, at their annual Global Innovator of the Year Awards, next Thursday night. It is a privilege to represent the startup sector in Ireland on this prominent global stage where over 600 leading USA entrepreneurs, mentors and advisors gather to celebrate the next generation of fast growth global tech entrepreneurs. Whilst there, GEN Ireland will work with Pipeline to set the schedule for their visit to Ireland and as part of this, it is fantastic to link Meath Enterprise, a regional GEW partner to a global initiative and watch new relationships and opportunities emerge,” says Helena.
