Progress is as vital to the Meade Potato Company as the rich, fertile soil in which the company’s produce is grown.
Specialising in potatoes and carrots, Meade Potato Company grows, packs and delivers potato, fruit and vegetable product ranges to retailers around Ireland. A family business for over 30 years, they are as committed to sustainability and innovation as they are to top quality produce.
“Sustainability is in our DNA,” says Eleanor Meade, Business Operations Manager. “Our goal from day one has been zero food waste and we have a fantastic relationship with Crosscare Community Food Bank to help provide for those in need. All our packaging is recycled, we have a wind turbine providing 35-40% of our energy requirements, and we’ve ensured that our production plant is as energy efficient as possible.
“We’ve just launched Ireland’s only homegrown frozen chip. The market is a competitive one but we wanted to give consumers the option to buy chips made with homegrown Irish Rooster potatoes. Feedback has been very positive – consumers like that Meade Irish Rooster Chips are made without any additives or preservatives – and we are stocked in supermarkets nationwide.
“Being part of the Boyne Valley Food Hub means we can pitch ourselves further, research and development will be easier and synergies with other food companies will be created, all to bring the consumer healthier foods.”
